BIOASTAR ASPHALT PRIMER EMULSION is an economical and environmentally friendly asphalt primer composed of 100% DOMESTIC AND NATIONAL raw materials, produced under a registered patent, and designed for effective penetration into aggregates and mechanical sub-layers using biological-based technology. BIOASTAR was first produced and tested in TURKEY and is planned to be used in foreign countries in the coming years through overseas trials.
BIOASTAR is an important technology within our country’s economy due to its production from 100% domestic raw materials and its greater cost-effectiveness compared to its counterparts.
BIOASTAR stands out for its eco-friendly properties, as it does not contain solvents harmful to human and environmental health, such as kerosene or paraffin.
BIOASTAR EMULSION is produced in concentrated form. During application, it is diluted with water in specific ratios according to climate, field, and application conditions. The optimum dilution ratios have been determined by us through laboratory and field trials. Samples can be taken from the base material to be used for special projects, and the dilution ratio can be determined separately by us.
- BIOASTAR is designed to achieve better penetration compared to conventional cut-back primers.
- Formulated with BIOLOGICALLY BASED low volatile organic compound
(VOC) solvent technology - Formulation can be optimized by appropriately selecting the water dilution ratio and application rate to achieve target penetration rates.
- Following optimization, BIOASTAR achieves final penetration within 1-4 hours after application.
| Feature | Value | Analysis Method |

| Saybolt Viscosity at 40°C | 10-15 seconds | ASTM D88 |
| Storage Stability/Settling (24 hours) | < 3% Difference | ASTM D6930 |
| Storage Stability / Sieve Test (25 hours) | <% 0.1 | ASTM D6933 |
- Before application, concentrate BIOASTAR is diluted with water in a predetermined ratio.
- The dilution process can be performed prior to application by circulating in any tank, mixing with vertical agitators, or in an asphalt distributor.
- Standard dilution ratio: 1 ton of concentrated bioastar to 2 tons of water.
- This dilution ratio can also be applied as 3 tons of water per 1 ton of concentrate. (Field application trials have been conducted.)
- The water used in the dilution process should be at normal temperatures (15°C and above) and meet standard specifications (well water, tap water, etc.).
- If dilution with more water is desired, concentrated BIOASTAR can be produced with a residue percentage above 55%.
- The purpose of dilution with water here is to increase the penetration of BIOASTAR’s base material.
- A high dilution ratio will facilitate penetration in foundations with a high compression ratio.
- Conditions such as the type, grade, and moisture content of the base material used during application will affect the penetration rate.
- The standard recommended application rate is 1-1.5 liters/mt’ (1 ton of concentrated BIOASTAR-2 tons of water).
- Optimal application and dilution ratios should be determined based on the conditions of the project site. For conditions that are not well known, it is recommended to conduct a trial in a small area to determine the application amount and dilution ratio.
- During application, it is recommended that the diluted BIOASTAR temperature be between 20-65 °C.
- The application of BIOASTAR is absolutely not recommended under conditions where the temperature is below 5°C and soil moisture levels are above the optimum moisture content (especially in rainy weather).
- During application, BIOASTAR applied to the base will be brown in color. Within 1-4 hours, the BIOASTAR applied to the surface will turn blackish.
- When the required conditions are met during application, optimal penetration is achieved, and the desired surface is obtained between the base material and the bitumen to be applied prior to bitumen application, and there is no adhesion to the wheels during asphalt application.
- After being produced at our BIOASTAR CONCENTRATE factory, it is shipped in asphalt tankers or, if desired, in 1000-liter IBC tanks.
- CONCENTRATED BIOASTAR can be stored for a minimum of 3 months at temperatures above 10°C. After a 1-month storage period, simply stir the product before use.
(No need to thaw) - KONSANTRE BIOASTAR should be used within 2-3 days after dilution.
- BIOASTAR that has not been used within 2 days after dilution can be easily used again after stirring (in the distributor, in the tank with pump circulation or with a vertical agitator).
- If desired, it can be shipped from our BIOASTAR factory in a diluted, ready-to-use form. Products shipped in this manner must be used within 2-3 days. If the storage period is going to be longer, the product must be stirred before use.
- Technical support will be provided by our technical team upon request prior to implementation.
